RARE AND ORIGINAL!!!!! This is a modern art sculpture made by an artist in Mexico. The sculpture is Artisan Studio Glass to commemorate the apple. It is lamp blown and enclosed at the the stem. The stem is a hand-blown glass part that has been glass-fused on top. The sculpture would have been blown clear glass at first by the artist. After, the artist used a technique called "Water Transfer Printing" or also known as "Hydro-Dipping" to apply the graphics to the surface of the glass. Then the stem (hand-blown glass part) was hand painted to complete the artist's vision of the sculpture. This process would have taken a considerable amount of time and would be labor intensive. Studio glass is the modern use of glass as an artistic medium to produce sculptures or three-dimensional artworks into fine arts. The glass objects created are intended to make a sculptural or decorative statement, and typically do not serve as any type of useful function. Artisan glass is properly restricted to glass "made as art in small workshops" and most notably with the personal involvement of the artist who designed the piece. This is in contrast to art glass, made by craftsmen in factories, and glass art, covering the whole range of glass with artistic interest made throughout history. Both art glass and studio glass originate in the 19th century, and the terms compare with studio pottery and art pottery, but in glass the term "studio glass" is mostly used for work made in the period beginning in the 1960's with a major revival in interest in artistic glass-making. Because studio glass is mainly Artisan, it is made in a small limited quantities while using traditional techniques with modern techniques.. Their prices may range from a few hundred to hundreds of thousands of dollars. For the largest installations, the prices are in the millions. Modern glass studios use a great variety of traditional techniques in creating glass artworks, including: • Glass-blowing, • Flame-working, • Glass casting, • Cold-working, • Glass fusing, • Pâte de verre, • Stained glass. After the glass making process the artist selected the colors to make his statement. The palette chosen was amber shadow, burnt orange, and gold. This gives a very Autumnal vibe and a fall season feel. The sculptures color is referred to as "Rustic Fire". The stem is hand-painted in gold. The clear hand-blown glass sculpture was then "Hydro Dipped" in Rustic Fire. Hydro-Dripping is a surface decorating technology that allows applications to complex designs and artwork with 3-dimensional structures. The process uses special multi-colored paint and an application chemical film which the sculpture is submerged in water to be applied. The ideal water temperature for hydro dipping is between 80–90°F. However, some artists may recommend a specific temperature. The time it takes for paint to dry depends on the amount of paint used, the temperature, and the humidity. In general, most hydro dipping paints dry in 20–30 minutes in a temperature range of 65–80°F. After drying time, the sculpture is then glazed and fire baked to a hardened shiny gloss. The artist's craftsmanship is truly amazing and the strength of the glass is remarkable!!!! Memory Lane is the second owner of this sculpture. Purchased from the original owner at an Estate Sale in Southlake, TX in 2022.
